EL Design Studio is one of our favorite interior design studios to follow on social media. The studio is located in Hicksville, New York and has a small but talented team of interior designers. Ellen Lopez, owner and founder, opened her doors in 2014 with the objective of focusing on single kitchen or bathroom remodels.
Ellen has more than 15 years of experience in the remodeling industry and now takes on full home redesigns in addition to remodeling projects. Their focus is to redefine each space and rethink each layout to maximize the potential for each client’s style and taste.

Each EL Design project also creates a space where people can feel their home is a representation of their personalities. Their overall approach is focused on detail, function, and beauty. Each project reflects an artful interpretation, seen through the lens of their clients’ needs and desires. They work with the best brands of trusted manufacturers like Kohler, Tilebar, Emtek, Cambria and more. The EL Design team knocks it out of the park each time they custom tailor a space for their clients.
Meet the Design Project Team
The EL Design Studio team enjoys every component of their project, from assessing a client’s space, the in-studio planning process, and the collaborative working relationship with the client. EL Design’s team has received many awards for their work. These include eight from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and three from the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
Ellen Lopez: Founder and Creative Director

Ellen’s artistic vision comes from her experience as a textile designer, stylist, and colorist. This rich history impacts the custom features in her client’s spaces, making them truly one of a kind. Ellen is currently the Chair of Programming for the National Kitchen & Bath Association and serves on the board for the Metro NY Chapter.
Diana Rojas: Project Manager and Content Director

Diana is the mastermind behind the firm’s project marketing. This includes organizing design details, photo shoots, social media, website, communications and more. She focused on showcasing and representing the brand in the best way possible.
Denise Goodman: Sales and Business Development
Denise started working for EL Design Studio shortly after completing a Kitchen renovation with Ellen. Her role includes project managing workflow with contractors, builders and suppliers. In addition to project management, she is also involved in business development opportunities and sales.
Design Project: Lefferts Boulevard
EL Design Studio approaches each of their projects uniquely so that they are exclusively representative of both the clients needs and wants, as well as their design expertise and vision. This mindset came to life in a gorgeous white kitchen remodel designed for a chef and cookbook author. Flow, storage, and quality products, all interpreted beautifully, was the focus.

The kitchen is packed with top of the line elements including a Kohler Whitehaven Farm Sink. Although each project is unique unto itself, there are design staples that are the designer’s favorites. This Kohler sink has become one of those features because it can be paired with other finishes and materials. It hugs cabinetry in tight spaces and balances today’s popular quest for efficient function with 1920s and 30s retro style. Read more on the EL Design Studio blog.
Design Project: Krug Place
The cornerstone of EL Design Studio is to create custom spaces that are individual to each client. The team understands the client relationship well. They work to know their needs and aesthetic before they start the design journey.

When the team toured Krug Place, it felt closed-off, dated and sadly dark. They were confident there was potential to open and bring life back to it. The remodel completely reinvented this home. The stunning white kitchen paired with a natural kitchen island to give some warmth. The result is a light, bright space and a very happy homeowner. Read more at on the EL Studio Design blog.
Design Project: Coastal Dream
In this project EL Design Studio had complete creative freedom to really make this house a cohesive experience. Longer term projects such as this one become a passion for the team. Each room reflects the heart of the EL Design team through the small details. From quartz light fixtures in the living room to a stunning luxury kitchen and gorgeous living area – this project was planned to create an elegant coastal experience in each room.

EL Design began the process with a cohesive color palette that reflected the North Shore of Long Island and the breathtaking views of Long Island Sound. The water’s presence definitely played a role in every design decision. Read more on the EL Design Studio blog.
Design Project: Plainview Split
The first thing you notice about this kitchen is an incredible geometric backsplash and a stunning natural wood vent hood. We love the mixed quartz countertop design with a bold vein for the island and soft perimeter to complement the backsplash. The globe lights add softness and gold accents catch your eye as you move through the room. EL Design pushed the boundaries of traditional kitchen design and infused unexpected finishes to maximize the final result into something truly spectacular.

Client Testimonials
How do you know a project’s design team is amazing? Well, you can look at their work and do a little research, but I always like to get insight from past clients. Here are some reviews from their customers:
“I’m a professional chef and cookbook author, so kitchen layout and functionality is super important to me. I LOVE cooking in this kitchen, and that’s the best endorsement I can think to give.”
“Ellen is a visionary. We met with several kitchen designers before Ellen came along and blew them all out of the water. Her design was bold, creative and practical, all while incorporating our wish list and staying within our budget. Her team is a pleasure to work with, intuiting our needs and taking charge of all the details to keep this project moving smoothly and staying on schedule. When the coronavirus pandemic struck and our contractor hit the brakes on construction, Ellen and her team continued to work behind the scenes to place orders and work with distributors to keep us on track to resume work on the renovation as soon as it was safe to do so. I am already planning my next project with EL Design Studio and cannot recommend them highly enough.”
“Ellen created a layout for my kitchen that was both functional and beautiful. Her layout made the best use of my space and was something I could not have done alone or with a contractor.”
